RLA and Math mock STAAR tests this week
GJHS will be conducting mock RLA and math STAAR tests on Tuesday and Thursday. The RLA test will be on Tuesday and the Math test will be on Thursday. Students should go by the cafeteria to see their testing room assignments and teachers on Monday. This is a very important test as our teachers use this data to design systems to review students for the STAAR test. Additionally, students in need of extensive review (after school tutorials, mandatory PLC, etc.) will be identified using the data generated by our student's performance on this test.

Parent/Family Engagement Nights
GJHS is planning opportunities for our GJHS family to gather and learn together about some of our most important tools for success. These nights will include a night where parents can gain support and knowledge regarding Skyward and Parentsquare, and our ESL program. Additionally, we will have a night where we will invite our 5th grade/future GJHS students/families and our current GJHS student's families to discuss to learn about the scheduling process and the courses available to our GJHS students. Please be on the look out for a schedule and additional details.

2024-2025 GJHS Instructional Focus
The 24-25 GJHS Instructional Focus is "Writing with a purpose". Students will be building their writing skills every day through writing practice. We will be using the "ACE" strategy in all content areas as a writing framework. Using this strategy, students will:
  • Answer the question
  • Cite Evidence
  • Explain the reasoning for their answer.

Academic Corner
We encourage students to review their notes, attend PLC, and utilize any additional resources provided by their teachers. Our teaching staff is committed to supporting every student through this process, offering extra help sessions and guidance as needed. Let's work together to ensure that all students feel prepared and confident to succeed in their studies.
