About Me

Educational History:

I graduated from Riviera High School in 1985. After High School, I attended Texas A&M for a year before transferring to Texas Tech University where I graduated in December of 1988. Next, I attended graduate school in San Marcos at Southwest Texas State University.

Degrees and Certifications:

I have a B.A in History with a minor in Political Science from Texas Tech University (1988), and an M.Ed in Education with a minor in Reading from Southwest Texas State University (1991). I am certified to teach Secondary History, all-level Special Education, and have my certification to teach all subjects grades 6-8.  I also have numerous hours in reading diagnostics.

 

Current Position:

I began teaching at Graham Junior High in 2002 and have been with GISD for 29 years. I am currently teaching 6th grade reading.

Previous Position:

Prior to teaching in Graham, I taught Special Education in New Braunfels, Texas from 1989-1990. My first teaching position with GISD was at the High School where I taught Special Education, Speech, and TAAS remediation.  

Family Information:

I have been married for 30 years to my wonderful husband, Gene. We were married in January of 1991 in Corpus Christi, Texas. We have two sons. Dustin is a 2012 graduate of Graham HS, and a 2016 graduate of The University of Texas at Austin. He is currently lives in Spokane, Washington.  Ryan is a 2018 graduate of Graham HS and currently attends Texas Tech University where he is a senior. My family has two cats and one spoiled female pug named, Frank.

Personal Information:

My hobbies include reading, swimming, fishing, and writing.  I like to go for walks, eat out, and watch movies when I am not teaching.
