I went to Jacksboro High School and graduated valedictorian in 2006. From there I went on to Texas Tech University where I double majored in Music Performance and History Education. I graduated Sum Cum Lade in 2011.
I have a Bachelor of Music in Bassoon Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in History Education with a minor in Education.
I have a Texas Teaching certificate and am lisenced to teach Gen Ed. 4-8, Secondary History and English and ESL.
I am a Seesaw Ambassador which means I have taken extensive training in the app Seesaw and am able to represent it.
This summer I took part in the Region 9 Science Collaborative.
I am a member of the High Reliability Schools team for Graham ISD.
I began my teaching career in Gumi, South Korea. I have been teaching at GISD at Woodland Elementary for 3 years now. Last year I moved up to junior high and now I am teaching 7th grade science.
Prior to GISD I worked as an English teacher in Gumi, South Korea for 2 years with a program called EPiK. I taught English to high school students in a local high school. The program was completely done by immersion, my co-teacher and I were only supposed to speak English to the students to give them a more authentic experience.
I have been married to my sweet husband Matt for a little over a year now, we got married in June of 2016. In February we welcomed our first child, a little boy named Corban to the family. We have 2 dogs, a basset hound named Freckles and an Australian Shepherd/ Border Collie mix named Annie. We also have 2 gray cats named Twinky and Slinky. I come from a long line of teachers and right now my mother also teaches in the district at the Jr. High (Mrs. Richardson, 8th Science).
My favorite thing to do outside of school is to watch movies with my husband. I also really enjoy reading, playing with the dogs, sewing and crafting and just spending time outside. When I am in a particularly active mood I love a good jog on a nature trail or to take a walk by the lake. I don’t have a lot of time during the school year, but when I do I enjoy cooking and baking too :)
